This post contains spoilers, obviously.
In the midst of a „Game of Thrones“ episode that was so stressful it gave me acid reflux, I took great comfort in Daenerys Targaryen — specifically, in her wardrobe. Dany is currently going through, for lack of a better phrase, some serious shit, but she’s working through it with the advisory help and just minorly incestual sexual tension of one Jon Snow.
After Dany clocked in so much screen time in Essos, where the weather is more temperate and civilians generally wear less clothing, it has been fun to see her adjust her attire to something more appropriate for the perpetual drizzle of Dragonstone. We already discussed the impracticality of Dany’s sudden influx in woolen options after Episode 2, but I’m still curious about the specifics behind the Mother of Dragons’s mystery atelier. Namely, is fellow platinum powerhouse Donatella Versace lending a helping hand in these wardrobe consultations?
Exhibit A: This structural coat-dress concept, which she appears to have worn all throughout Sunday night’s episode. It took her from venturing into caves with Jon — which, heh, we all know how Jon feels about caves — to going literal scorched-earth on the Lannister army.
The ‚fit had those sharp shoulders and bodice detailing that’s very indicative of the Versace power-bitch aesthetic, and it suited her.
Jon evidently thought so, too.
While we wait for the two of them to inevitably get it on, may I submit a formal request to Ms. Versace to consider casting Dany (or, at the very least, the actress who plays her, Emilia Clarke) in an upcoming campaign? The Breaker of Chains has all the characteristics of a Versace woman: She’s got that literal take-no-prisoners attitude, and she puts her feminine persuasions to her professional advantage. Plus, the whole dragons thing.
Just a thought.
