The so-called „naked dress“ has taken us around the block a few times in recent history, most lately dating back to the nearly-nude iterations seen on the likes of Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez. We’ve seen those gowns, bedazzled just so, evolve into sheer skirts and braless tops, complete with an abundance of freed nipples and butt cheeks. But the trend hasn’t exactly been painless for non-celebrities to replicate, despite an overwhelming agreement that, when styled properly, a sheer skirt can have its moments.
Human bookworm Emma Roberts did just that on Monday at the American Apparel & Footwear Association’s 2017 American Image Awards in New York City. Layering a translucent prairie dress from Coach’s Fall 2017 collection over a Fleur du Mal bodysuit with Malone Souliers lace-up sandals, Roberts put together a look that, somehow, looked completely wearable. And though the dress distinctly closed out the show in February, we almost didn’t recognize it: On the runway, it was paired with an embroidered black frock that only allowed for portions of the sleeves and bodice to peek through.
Meanwhile, her beauty look was exactly how I want my own face to look this spring; rosy cheeks and a slight lip tint go a long way. Also, her pores seem to have conveniently vanished, which is a magic trick I’ve been trying to master for years.
